Saraswati World School Hosts Thrilling Annual Sports Meet

Hooghly, December 19, 2024Saraswati World School, recently named one of the top 25 CBSE Schools in West Bengal, hosted its highly anticipated Annual Sports Meet. This day-long extravaganza saw enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and parents. The event was a testament to the school’s commitment to promoting physical education, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

The event Annual Sports Meet was inaugurated with the garlanding of the school’s Inspiration, the Late Saraswati Deviji, and the lighting of the lamp by the Principal of the school Mrs Shyamasree Biswas, Vice Chairman Mr Vinod Singh and Director Mrs Sneha Singh. The ceremony was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Miss Tuhina Maity, a talented student-athlete and Kabaddi champion who has represented West Bengal in various national and state-level tournaments, including the East Zone Inter-University Kabaddi Games and the Khelo India Kabaddi University Games.

Miss Maity won the winner’s trophy in Hooghly district’s Kabaddi Championship from 2015 to 2019 and was the captain of the district team. Another special guest, Miss Aratrika Chakraborty, a Class 3 student who set the India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records with 480 non-stop punches in 1 minute, also attended. She has won multiple gold medals in state, district, and international karate championships. In their addresses, they emphasized the importance of sports and physical education in shaping the minds and bodies of young students.

The Annual Sports Meet day’s proceedings commenced with the hoisting of the school flag, followed by the school anthem and events like the March Past, pyramid formation, and the oath-taking ceremony of the school captains. The ceremony was attended by the school’s Vice Chairman, who handed over the flare to the School Captain, marking the official start of the event.

A major highlight of the Annual Sports Meet was the “Go as You Like” event, held for students of Pre-Primary and Classes 1-5. Students showcased their creativity and enthusiasm, dressing up in their favourite costumes and participating in a range of fun-filled activities.

The track and field events, which included sprints, relays, and jumps, saw keen competition among students from different classes and houses. Fun sports activities such as the crawling race, frog jump, toffee race, bucket the ball, and cockfight added to the excitement. Children also showcased their skills in karate.

The flare run, led by the School Captain, added to the thrill of the Annual Sports Meet, with students and teachers cheering on the participants as they made their way around the track. Parents actively participated in the race event arranged for them, with exciting prizes given to the winners. The event concluded with an activity arranged for teachers, namely the “Pass the Ball” game.

The prize distribution ceremony of the Annual Sports Meet took place simultaneously between the events. Winners in various categories included:

  • Long Jump (Girls Category): Prajukta Ram (1st Position)
  • Back Race: Subrna Sarkar (1st Position)
  • High Jump (Boys Category): Piyush Singh (1st Position)
  • Maths Race: Ankush Mukherjee (1st Position)
  • Dress Up Race: Kalla Enosh
  • Three-Leg Race: Dhanishtha Das and Icchha Biswas
  • Other winners included Abhinav Singh, Vanshika Ghosh, Ratul, Harshit, Akanksha Jadav, and more.

The Annual Sports Meet was a resounding success, with students, teachers, and parents coming together to promote physical education, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The event underscored the school’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education that emphasizes the importance of physical activity and collaboration.
