The campus of Saraswati World School resonated with patriotic zeal as students, teachers, and dignitaries came together to celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day. The event was marked not only by cultural vibrancy but also by a powerful message that encouraged students to understand the deeper meaning of freedom.

A Grand Beginning with National Pride

The program commenced with an introductory speech by the host, followed by a 16-step parade that filled the grounds with energy and discipline. The highlight of the opening was the flag hoisting ceremony, conducted by the Honourable Vice Chairman, Director, and Principal, after which the gathering stood in unison for the National Anthem, saluting the Tricolour with pride.

An Inspiring Address from the Vice Chairman

The most awaited part of the morning was the speech by the Vice Chairman, Mr. Vinod Singh, who not only honoured the sacrifices of freedom fighters but also urged the students to embrace the true meaning of Independence Day in their lives.

In his thought-provoking address, he said:

“Let us take a pledge this Independence Day — not only to love our country but also to liberate ourselves from ignorance, selfishness, and fear. Let us build an India that is strong not just in numbers and economy, but in values, unity, and humanity.”

He reminded the students that while India had gained political freedom in 1947, the journey of true independence day continues within each individual — through discipline, honesty, kindness, and self-mastery. Quoting from the Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 6, Verse 5), he emphasised the importance of self-control:

उद्धरेदात्मनाऽत्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत्। आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः॥

“Elevate yourself through your own efforts; do not degrade yourself. For the self is your friend, and the self alone is your enemy.”

His message struck a chord with the young audience, inspiring them to discover their inner spark and contribute to a better India.

A Message of Hope from the Principal

Adding to the inspiration of the day, the Principal of Saraswati World School, Mrs. Shyamashree Biswas, addressed the gathering with heartfelt words:

“Independence day is not only about celebrating our nation’s freedom, but also about empowering ourselves with knowledge, values, and compassion. Dear students, as you grow, let your education become the foundation for creating a society where honesty, unity, and empathy guide every action. Each one of you holds the power to shape India’s tomorrow — use it wisely, with courage and with kindness.”

Her words encouraged students to see education as the true path to personal growth and national progress.

Cultural Splendour Showcasing India’s Spirit

The program unfolded into a series of songs, dances, and dramatic performances by students across all classes, each showcasing India’s journey of freedom and cultural richness.

  • Classes 3–6 began with an action song, setting a patriotic tone.
  • Nursery, LKG, and UKG students charmed the audience with their colourful dance routines.
  • A series of class-wise dance and music performances followed, including stirring songs from Classes 1–9 and energetic dance numbers by groups ranging from Class 1 to Class 9.
  • The drama segment, themed on India’s freedom fighters and the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes, left the audience both emotional and proud.

The performances highlighted unity, courage, and the beauty of India’s cultural heritage, leaving a lasting impression on parents, teachers, and guests.

Closing with Gratitude and Hope

The celebration concluded with a Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the contributions of students, teachers, and coordinators who made the event a success. The day was not just a celebration of independence but also a reminder of the values that should guide every student’s journey in life.

As the program drew to a close, Saraswati World School once again stood as a beacon of education that blends knowledge with values, nurturing young minds to be not only successful individuals but also responsible citizens of tomorrow.
