🚨 Telangana Factory Blast Tragedy: 35 Dead in Sigachi Industries Explosion, DNA Identification Underway
What began as an ordinary shift at Sigachi Industries Pvt. Ltd., a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in Telangana’s Pashamylaram industrial zone, ended in one of the state’s deadliest industrial disasters in recent memory.
As of this morning, the death toll has climbed to 35, with scores injured and many still undergoing critical care. The blast occurred on June 30, during peak working hours, causing widespread devastation, panic, and heartbreak for the families of those trapped inside.
💥 A Blast That Tore Through Lives and Steel
The explosion, reportedly caused by a pressure build-up in the Sigachi Industries plant’s drying unit, sent a fireball across the facility. Many workers were instantly killed, while others were buried under flaming debris.
Emergency rescue operations were delayed by overnight rains, forcing responders to work under hazardous conditions well into the early hours of Tuesday.
“As of this morning, we have received 35 bodies. More are likely,” said Superintendent at Area Hospital, Patancheru.
🧬 DNA Profiling Begins Amid Charred Remains
The tragedy’s scale has overwhelmed medical and forensic teams. Only four victims have been formally identified so far due to the extent of burns and bodily damage.
To aid families and speed up the process:
- A special forensic team from Osmania General Hospital has joined efforts
- 15 autopsies have been completed
- DNA samples from 20+ bodies collected overnight
- Samples are now with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for cross-referencing with family-provided reference samples
“It’s emotionally and logistically one of the toughest situations we’ve handled,” said a senior forensic doctor.
🏥 State Medical Authorities Take Charge
In a rare overnight effort, top officials from the Telangana health department remained on-site:
- Dr. A. Narendra Kumar, Director of Medical Education
- Dr. Ajaya Kumar, Commissioner of Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP)
They are ensuring families are supported, updates are delivered in real-time, and medical staff are fully equipped.
🔍 Investigation Underway, 34 Injured Still Hospitalised
While rescue teams continue searching the ruins, investigators are probing whether negligence or outdated machinery may have played a role. The blast’s epicentre is believed to be in the Sigachi Industries facility’s drying chamber, a critical area in pharmaceutical manufacturing prone to high-pressure operations.
At least 34 injured workers are currently admitted to nearby hospitals, many of them in ICUs with burn injuries and inhalation trauma.
🏭 Sigachi Industries Under Scrutiny
The incident has raised serious questions about industrial safety protocols and regulatory oversight in one of India’s fastest-growing pharmaceutical corridors.
“If safety audits had been enforced more rigorously, this may have been preventable,” said an industrial safety analyst familiar with the region.
Authorities are expected to launch a full safety audit of pharma units in the Pashamylaram and Patancheru belts in the coming weeks.
⚠️ Conclusion: A Tragedy that Must Not Be Repeated
As families gather outside Patancheru Hospital—some with hope, others with despair—the Sigachi Industries blast serves as a sobering reminder of the human cost of negligence and industrial oversight failures.
This is not just a headline. It’s 35 lives lost—and a warning echoed in fire and smoke across Telangana’s pharmaceutical heartland.
