Let’s delve into the CBSE grading system for both Class 10 and Class 12. These guidelines provide a holistic assessment of students, moving away from the traditional marks-based evaluation method. Here’s what you need to know:

CBSE Grading System: Class 10 and 12

  1. Grading Scale:
    • CBSE uses a nine-point grading scale for both Class 10 and Class 12.
    • The highest grade is A1, while the lowest (requires improvement) is E.
    • Each grade corresponds to a specific range of marks.
  2. Grade Ranges:
    • For instance:
      • Grades between 91 and 100 are assigned an A1.
      • Grades between 81 and 90 receive an A2, and so on.
  3. Shift from Pressure to Comprehension:
    • The focus is on a student’s overall understanding and abilities rather than undue pressure.
    • This approach encourages a more holistic view of learning.
  4. Subject-Specific Grading:
    • Under the new CBSE system, subject-specific grades are given; there is no cumulative grade.
    • Students are assessed individually in each subject.
  5. Passing Criteria:
    • To progress to the next class, students must secure 33% passing marks in all subjects.
    • Practical exams (if applicable) also contribute to the overall assessment.
  6. No Overall Division or Merit List:
    • CBSE does not award overall divisions or distinctions.
    • Students need to secure a grade above ‘E’ to be declared as ‘Pass’ in board exams.

Remember to keep an eye on the official CBSE website for the official CBSE result announcement, and congratulations to all the students for their hard work and dedication! 🎉📚
