Shockwaves from the Sky: Satellite Images Hint at India’s Covert Strike on Pakistan’s Murid Air Base
New Delhi – High-resolution satellite images have surfaced that confirm a covert, precise and calculated Indian airstrike on Pakistan’s highly fortified Murid Air Base. The said attack, part of what is being termed Operation Sindoor, is believed to be a direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians and rattled the nation.
An Underground Target Breached on Pakistan’s Murid Air Base?

The images, analysed by geospatial intelligence researcher Damien Symon from Intel Lab, show significant structural damage at the Murid Air Base facility, just 150 kilometres from the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. Most notably, a three-meter-wide crater has been identified just 30 meters north of a critical underground command centre, hinting at a high-precision airstrike aimed at neutralising sensitive military assets.
Symon noted the complex is ringed with double fencing, multiple watchtowers, and restricted access points—a clear sign of its strategic significance. According to analysts, these earth-covered entrances could house critical equipment or even function as a hardened shelter for high-level personnel during wartime.

India reportedly launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, just over two weeks after the Pahalgam massacre. The retaliatory operation involved precision-guided munitions targeting several Pakistani military bases, including Rahimyar Khan, Nur Khan, and the pivotal Murid Air Base.
Sources familiar with the strike tactics indicated the use of deep-penetration bombs intended to breach fortified underground structures, marking a bold shift in India’s counterterrorism doctrine. This is believed to be one of the most advanced military operations executed by India in recent years.
Pakistan’s Silence and a Fragile Ceasefire
Despite the growing evidence, Pakistan has neither confirmed nor denied the extent of damage at Murid Air base. However, following four intense days of cross-border tension, at the request of the Pakistani Military and government, India had agreed to a ceasefire on May 12.
Military experts suggest that Pakistan’s muted response could be part of a diplomatic strategy to contain escalation or avoid public panic regarding vulnerabilities in its air defence.
A New Doctrine Unfolding?
Strategic analysts are calling this a turning point in India’s defence posture. By targeting underground military infrastructure, India may be signalling a new era of pre-emptive, intelligence-driven military operations, potentially deterring future terror attacks planned across the border.
Whether this mission sets a new precedent in India-Pakistan military engagement or remains an isolated event, Operation Sindoor has opened a new chapter in South Asia’s high-stakes security dynamics.
